Mersin University

Mersin University is a state university, built in 1992 in Mersin province, Turkey. It has about 25,000 students, 1,405 academic staff, and a number of foreign and guest academic staff. Mersin University is the only public University with Quality Management System Certificate TSE-ISO EN 9001-2008 in academic and administrative fields. Mersin University continues its academic activities and academic research and serves the community in effective, efficiently and competitive and participative way. Mersin University which is developing its sources continuously is trying to be known internationally in all academic fields.

In 2005 the Mersin Technology Development Zone (Technoscope) was set up, creating a partnership between the university's research and development departments and industry, with the aim of developing new technologies that could be directly translated into industrial production. The Department of Food Engineering covers all aspects of food science and technology: from food safety to food science and technology. It is compatible to developing food technology and science; educate students to develop the self-assurance and analytical thinking ability that enables to solve the problems as an engineer, train the students to use and develop advanced technologies to produce safe and high quality foods; transfer research-based information and technology to the region, country and world; train the high qualified academics.



BETELGEUX, S.L. is a Spanish SME located in Ador (Valencia) specialized in hygiene and biosecurity, bringing innovative and effective solutions in the following fields:

  • Cleaning and disinfection in food industries, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, as well as livestock farms through the manufacture of cleaning and disinfection chemical products, and trade of dosing and application equipment for sanitization and biosecurity;
  • Food, water, surfaces and air microbiological analysis;
  • Training of agri-food industry staff in hygiene, food safety, etc.

We counted on a Development and Research Department, a Technical Service and a Customer Department able to provide solutions to the specific problems of companies on food safety, collaborating with our clients to reach high levels of hygiene and to guarantee food safety.

Betelgeux Technical Department audits food industries' and farms’ hygiene (cleaning and disinfection procedures, sanitation equipment and cleanliness and sanitation levels) and has a long training tradition in topics related to prevention of occupational risks, hygiene, quality, food safety and environment. Training programmes and courses have been designed, addressed and executed in many industries of the agrifood-processing sector, including the following matters: food safety, occupational risks, HACCP, etc.

With more than 25 years of experience in the sector, Betelgeux's corporate culture is an enormously favoring element for the training, innovation and development processes. Betelgeux is certified with the UNE EN ISO 9001:2015.


VUPP is a public research institution. Its activities comprise basic and applied research and development including experimentation in the fields of food chemistry and biochemistry, microbiology, food engineering, food processing procedures and machinery. It has 40 employees (researchers and technicians) working in 2 departments (Department of chemistry, microbiology and biochemistry of food; Department of food technology, biotechnology and engineering).

Italian Confederation of Farmers (CIA)


The Italian Confederation of Farmers (CIA) of Umbria, founded in 1977 is an organization independent of political parties, committed to the development of agriculture and farmers' rights in the society. It is part of the national organization that collects around 900,000 subscribers nationwide with headquarters in Rome, a representative office in the EU institutions in Brussels and participation, in the organization COPA-COGECA, which brings together all the associations and agricultural cooperatives from 28 Member States and the CEJA, the European Council of Young Farmers. CIA Umbria associates about 15,000 members in the region, 22 offices in major cities and a central office in Perugia. It includes producer associations, institutions and companies representing the needs of farmers and providing real services to farmers and rural businesses. CIA Umbria has its own online magazine "NuovaAgricoltura", organizes training courses through two training centers certified by the Region of Umbria, "Cia Umbria Formazione" and "Cipa-at Umbria", includes "AGIA", the Association of Young Farmers "Donne in Campo", associating female agricultural entrepreneurs, "Turismo Verde Umbria", with over 150 associated agritourism, CAF, Fiscal Assistance Centre and INAC , Institute for Assistance to Social Insurance.
